I'm a former golf pro and sports fanatic. I am particularly passionate about rugby and golf, but have a major interest in all sports. My retirement from the golf world meant that I needed some outlet for my sporting voice (hence the name) so I decided to write my thoughts down. Hopefully you enjoy or are touched some way by my posts and hope that you can interact with me regarding whatever it is you want to. Peace Guys and Gals

The All Blacks are Doomed

Courtesy of http://www.rugbyworldcup.com According to the latest drivel out of the North, the All Blacks are doomed. They have lost their lustre and aura and can't possibly win the World Cup for a third straight time. Steve Hansen's game plan is tired and the rush defense will mean that Ireland, England or Wales will win. … Continue reading The All Blacks are Doomed →

Pooper Rugby

I read the news this morning. I even watched that nauseating pair on channel one. The sports news had a rugby story leading on everything I watched/read. No surprises you say! You'd be right - however, the Southern Hemisphere's premier club competition has its semi finals this weekend in what could be some great battles … Continue reading Pooper Rugby →

Heir Jordan

(Photo Courtesy of The Independent, UK) He reminds me not of a golfer built with the perfect physique nor the perfect swing but as a golfer with the tenacity of a cat stalking a bird. Jordan Speith looked done. After 13 holes he was history - surely it was Matt Kuchar's time. Then without warning … Continue reading Heir Jordan →

Why make it complicated?

This week we see the start of the Super 139,998,493,278,323 finals series where teams will be knocked out of the competition and we will eventually have a winner. A few points have come up of late - some new some not-so-new. It appears the equal opportunity employers, South African Rugby, have decided to throw two … Continue reading Why make it complicated? →

All Blacks Spudded

Photo Courtesy of Radio NZ 108 years it took for Ireland to beat the All Blacks. 29 attempts. The All Blacks are undoubtedly one of the greatest sides we've put out, but on the day the Irish were superb. They would've beat anyone. They ran it, they tackled, they intimidated, they found that extra gear … Continue reading All Blacks Spudded →

World Record 18 Tests on the Trot.

Yep the All Blacks did it. I must admit walking to the game I was a little nervous. The Ozzies had nothing to lose and they could've thrown everything at the All Blacks, which in patches they did.  What concerns me most about last night and this year in particular is the absolute lack of … Continue reading World Record 18 Tests on the Trot. →

Ozzie Lament

Photo Courtesy of stuff.co.nz It appears that the Australian Rugby Side are blaming all and sundry for their losses (6 on the bounce) except themselves. If I may, let me add my tuppence. The Wallabies were competitive in the World Cup Final but not there in the dying stages of the game. I don't think … Continue reading Ozzie Lament →

Spy Games

Well, that's five on the trot, losses that is, for the Aussies. A truly wonderful performance from the All Blacks, from 1 to 23 the handling and skill overall was quite amazing. But, the most interesting piece of the weekend was probably the bug planted in the team room. Was it Michael Chieka? The ARU? … Continue reading Spy Games →

Rant….number 438237

Golf is a game played in New Zealand by 482,000 people with 125,000 affiliated to a golf club and over 7 million rounds played annually. I'm no doctor but I think that equates to roughly 10% of the population playing and 3% of the population are members of a club each playing 15 rounds a … Continue reading Rant….number 438237 →

Realisation from a well placed comment…

hi y'all sorry it's been a while. But what a time to return. The Olympics- a time every four years when people collectively can get fired up about sports they don't care about. I have to confess I'm much the same...I get swept up in it all.  Sevens was on today and the girls got … Continue reading Realisation from a well placed comment… →
