Crashing and Writing

Jaw-dropping sport moments of 2019: Tiger Woods roars back to win Masters | Tiger Woods | The Guardian
The Big Cat celebrates his 15th major

Tuesday the 23rd of Feb, 2021 Tiger Woods crashed his car with what seems to be some severity. At the time of writing he is in surgery and apparently has multiple leg injuries. We hope he makes a full recovery and is back to the course soon. Sentiments echoed the world over I’m sure. However, it’s easy to think of Tiger as one of the most recognisable figures in sports and that he is there for our entertainment. He is first and foremost a father and a son.

Lot’s of us have been lucky to meet celebrities over the years. Perhaps for a selfie or autograph. Some may have spent some time with the person. That’s when you realise that celebs are just people. They MAY have an incredible ability in some particular arena like golf or music, but they are just people. I say MAY because I’m not sure that all modern celebs are talented or have ability at all. Like, insta-famous, influencer, entitled, big lipped bags of useless. There are people trying to cure cancer and the “cash me ow sahd”, girl makes millions?

I’m not really sure what my point is other than to say that Tiger isn’t more or less important than a regular joe who has a accident. We all, in the world of sports, wish him well though.

On a different note, if anyone would like to do some writing for MSV, please let me know and we’ll make it happen. Flick me a text or an email and we can get it started. You don’t have to know about commas and shit. I have a reasonable grasp on that and can edit. I would love to get a big crew of opinionators writing about multiple sports – INCLUDING WOMENS SPORT – a subject that I’m woefully lacking in.
