Eddie Jones, the World’s best stirrer, has declared Ireland the best Rugby team on the planet ahead of the Six Nations. And, well, errr, he’s probably right. I find myself at a loss to argue with him. They had a great season in 2018 and will be a contender in Japan this year. Eddie is in charge of another contender and will be doing his level best to secure an underdog spot going into the tournament.
Inadvertently, he has probably done the All Blacks, the Wallabies and the Springboks a favour though. They will all carry with them underdog status of their own, chasing Ireland’s World Cup.
Speaking of the Six Nations, I see Dylan Thugly is going to miss most of the campaign with a bad knee. I actually think, and many agree, that England is better side without him anyway. He’s a liability in terms of playing ability and temperament. Owen Farrell has plenty of dog in him and is quite a player to be captain. Let’s hope for England’s sake he’s not rugby’s equivalent of Theresa May.
