Interesting Week for Canterbury Golf

The last week in the news has bought back some interesting memories and feelings of satisfaction to some extent.  My time in Canterbury started well and full of promise. However, through some of my own doing and some sociopathic behaviour on behalf of some in positions of power it ended very badly. As a result I tried to put it behind me and forget. It is then of a little surprise that an article was brought to my attention by a friend first published in November.  Link here (courtesy of http://www.stuff.co.nz)

Not a day later this next article comes to light as I was digesting the fact that 6 top line players had quit the team.  It was this:

Ouch. The last sentence of the first article reads, “But we’re not prepared to compromise our organisational values to accommodate Jordan or any other player.” Do the organisational  values of Canterbury Golf include going on holiday in a company car while parking, with boat, in handicap spaces meanwhile blaming staff for unhelpfulness?

There were some very unpleasant people during my time down there and appears one of them is having a clinical dose of karma.

Another, example of pure cold satisfaction was when I heard a former management type, had been ousted from management for being, allegedly, incompetent. This person was particularly  underhanded and deserves everything they get.

What’s the point of this moan?

Golf in New Zealand and it appears the world over has a pattern of people in power who are totally ill-equipped to do it. People with big egos and fuck-all backbone. It’s certainly my experience and as I discovered some others too. As seen here:

I see the tennis in Auckland is all the talk – as are the Black Caps even soccer. Lydio Ko gets a mention now and again. Golf is losing people. We need to fix it. I can offer up some names that would be very good for golf in this country. It needs to happen sooner rather than later.

I still have a sneaking suspicion that there is more karma to come – can’t wait 😉
