So thieves broke into 56 test All Black, Leon MacDonald’s home and stole some of his test jerseys. I heard people say, “who cares” and the like. I care.
Leon’s life’s work is Rugby. The pinnacle of which is no doubt his All Black stint. The mementos of which are his test jumpers. Imagine if someone robbed your life’s work. Not at the same level I know, but remember when the medals were stolen from Waiouru? Hell to pay.
Leon worked hard – very hard to get those jerseys. He worked hard to be a member of the best sports side in the world. He continues to work hard with Tasman. And we have some moron thieves who think they can can take these things using intimidation and stand over tactics. I sometimes think how nice it would be to go back to the days when beating the bejesus out of someone for doing such things might have been overlooked for the benefit of justice. Nothing less than these fuckwits deserve.
I’m hoping for Leon’s sake and the All Black legacy that the jerseys are returned and the culprits have their noses broken.
