Over over over reaction?

So Ted Bishop gets stood down as the president of the PGA of America because of a throw away line (lil girl) to loud mouth Ian Poulter. Really?

You people are kidding me right?

Apparently this sends a clear message that the PGA of America is against sexism and misogynistic behaviour. Outstanding PGA! Well done you guys!

Oh, wait. Don’t most golf clubs have segregated tee times for men and women? What is the organisation in charge of women’s professional golf? How many lady members does Cypress Point have? Are there not ladies and men’s sets? Do ladies play off different tees? When was it that the Royal and Ancient let women in the clubhouse? What happens if a man plays on ladies day?

It also sends a clear message that berating tour players is just not on. Bravo PGA!

Wait a minute. Aren’t some players guilty of abusing volunteers and fans? Some tour pros have berated each other on course…is that ok? There are long standing feuds and name-calling bollocks on online forums that have far worse implications than throw away lines, by PGA Members – yes you Michael Finney and Brian Manzella…is that ok? Apparently it’s ok to reward truculent little arseholes like Manzella.

This is a very good example of why golf is going downhill at an alarming rate. Classic dickhead behaviour from the people than run the sport. Having been the subject of it I’m aware of how things are. No, he probably shouldn’t have taken to Twitter to voice his opinion, but sacking him? Very poor decision PGA of America. At least I suppose they actually did something….perhaps a little less dramatic might be prudent. The NZPGA take note….do something!
