As I watch my daughter do what can only be described as the cutest thing in the world – ballet for 3 year old girls – I hear conversations. No, I don’t have voices in my head, well none that cause any great harm. Ash Dixon, the Magpies hooker has a daughter in the class and is being harassed by some rugby living fathers keen to know all about it. FYI Hawkes Bay best the Northland side last night to advance to the final.
The back page of the paper and the inside page are all stories of the Magpies famous win over an unpredictable and most talented Taniwha team. The talk in the ballet studio is of where the fathers were sitting while watching Mr. Dixon play a reasonable game. It is also talk of who is injured and what skills there are on display. There are also musings of Southland beating Manawatu for a dream home final.
I hope Tew and co….the unbearable main centre and independents on the New Zealand Rugby Union Board hear and see this. I see and hear nothing like this during the Super Duper 3789, yet all the talk around a local bunch of dudes happens during the ITM Cup. I wonder which is more popular. There are voices on the board that are having their say but are largely being shut down or not listened to. There is also talk of the constitution changing to get rid of zones for representatives to the board….ridiculous!! The All Blacks may well be at the top, but if you chip away at the base ie. ITM Cup eventually the top will crumble. Wake up you selectively blind idiots!!!
